Either way, it worked. Audiences embraced the story of Robert Reynolds, the man behind the Sentinel character, who discovered his superhuman abilities after ingesting a mysterious serum that gave him “the power of a million suns.” Unfortunately, he also showed her the Void, a dark and destructive force.
Possessed of a wide range of abilities, from flight and invulnerability to molecular manipulation, the Sentry’s power is comparable to, or even greater than, that of Marvel heavyweights such as Thor and Hulk.
This week’s volume recovers the character’s first appearance with volumes 1 to 5 of his first arc and complements them with stories that lead him to interact with Spider-Man, Hulk, the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men. It is probably one of the largest books in the collection.
