Before the turn of the millennium, this young man from Greenwich Village, New York, of Irish and Italian descent on his father’s side, and Dutch, English, French and German on his mother’s side, had already shot with the best directors
from Hollywood. With Scorsese (who was from his own neighborhood), she shot a dozen

of “The Godfather”, De Niro went to Sicily for four months to master the terrible accent
of its inhabitants. By the way, his first role as a mobster (later it would be almost a ‘must’ in his career) was with James Goldstone in the comedy “Almost, almost a mafia.”
