Shakira He wanted to live his big night in the MTV VMAs accompanied by her children Sasha and Milan. Mother and children followed the ceremony together from the front row and when the time came to go on stage to collect the lifetime achievement award, which was presented to her by rapper Wyclef Jean, Shakira had some nice words for the little ones, ages 10 and 8.
“I want to thank my parents and my children Milan and Sasha for encouraging me and making me believe that mom can do it,” said the singer as she began her acceptance speech.
They have been his driving force in this last year, in which he has lived a hard personal crisis due to their separation and the illness of their father. He even said that he found out about Gerard Piqu’s infidelities from the press while he was caring for William Mebarak in the hospital.

“I want to share this award with my fans,” the performer continued, highlighting the support of her army. “Thank you for helping me fight all my battles”he said in English and then continued his speech in Spanish.
“This is for you, my people. My Latin American people inside and outside this country. Thank you for inspiring me and for injecting me with so much strength and so much desire to move forward. I love you so much!” he added to cheers from the audience.
Shakira returned to the stage two more times during the ceremony. To collect the award with Karol G and to star in the great performance of the night in which she reviewed her entire career. A Show for which this gala will undoubtedly be remembered.
Shakira is the first Latin artist to receive the lifetime achievement award at the MTV VMAs.
