Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City, traveled to Guanajuato to lead a conference at the Technological Institute of León. As she passed through the entity, the official praised Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, President Counselor of the National Electoral Institute (INE).
This April 29, Sheinbaum led the lecture “Government policies at the service of the people” before university students. The politician highlighted the female role in the political sphere and stressed that various organizations such as the INE are in charge of a woman.
The capital’s president praised Taddei Zavala, who lowered his salary as one of his first actions at the head of the INE. In addition, the electoral counselor ordered the executive directorates and technical units to request a 2024 budget attached to the optimization of resources, without making what she called mistakes in the past.
It was in this context that this Saturday, Sheinbaum mentioned: “From here we send you congratulations because the first thing you did was lower your salary, not like the others.”
However, Taddei wasn’t the only woman Sheinbaum spoke about at the conference. He also mentioned Norma Lucía Piña, Minister President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
Sheinbaum did not hide that, like President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he does not agree with the decisions made by Piña so far.
“Even though we don’t agree with a lot of things that he does, there is a woman on the Supreme Court,” Sheinbaum said.
The official affirmed that although the fact that organizations such as the INE, the SCJN, the Ministry of Public and Citizen Security (SSPyC) and the Bank of Mexico are in charge of women is remarkable, other factors must be taken into account. In this regard, she pointed out that “it is not only being a woman, it is also the project that is headed.”
On the other hand, Sheinbaum reiterated that his opinion regarding the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (Inai) is contrary to that of opponents of the government of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena).
While the National Action Party (PAN) took the Senate floor to protest the postponement of the appointment of commissioners, Sheinbaum assured that the functioning of this body did not achieve a great change in terms of transparency.
Sheinbaum pointed out that the Inai was created with the objective of making the information transparent. However, he accused that the governments prior to that of López Obrador continued “just as dark”, which is why Morena seeks that his functions pass to the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF).
After her participation in the conference, the capital’s president publicly thanked those who accompanied her at the event, which she assured was attended by people from all over the state.
“Thank you very much to all the attendees from the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato, to the conference about the works and programs that we have carried out in the City. A lot of enthusiasm for the transformation ”, were his words on social networks.
In addition to citizens, Sheinbaum was accompanied by politicians related to the self-styled Fourth Transformation (4T) such as Ricardo Sheffield, head of the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (Profeco); Jesusa Rodríguez, who attended on behalf of legislator Antares Vázquez Alatorre and Pedro Ortega.
The great absentee was Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, governor of Guanajuato. The capital’s president ruled out that the absence of the state president, affiliated with the PAN, is due to the confrontation between political parties, instead she pointed out that the governor was out of state.
“I thank Governor @diegosinhue for his call a few days ago. It is out of state, but we maintain collaboration as in the recent Cervantino Festival.” Sheinbaum said on social networks.
