Sheinbaum says that Q4 lifted 8 million people out of poverty

MEXICO CITY (appro).- Claudia Sheinbaum, presidential candidate and former head of government, assured that due to the social programs of the Fourth Transformation implemented in Mexico City, from 2018 to 2022 “close to 800,000 people left poverty”.

On his Twitter account, he shared a 4:27-minute video in which he explained that, during the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador increased the amount of social programs to avoid raising taxes and putting the government in debt. country.

The Morenista added that, according to the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (Coneval) and the National Survey of Household Income and Expenses (ENIGH) of the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Inegi) at the federal level, the difference between the 10% with the highest income and the 10% with the lowest income was 21 times in 2016 and in 2022 it was reduced to 15 times.

In local terms, he highlighted that between 2018 and 2022 inequality fell from 19 to 14.7 times.

Regarding poverty, Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that, in 2018, 41.9% of the population was in this situation; by 2020 the figure reached 43.9%, however, in 2022 it decreased to 36.3%: “It means that 8 million people came out of poverty.”

In the capital, he said that in 2018 it was 30%, in 2020, “just in the year of the pandemic”, it was 32.6% and in 2022 it dropped to 23.8%: “Around 800,000 people were lifted out of poverty.”

According to Claudia Sheinbaum, these rates are the result of the increase in the minimum wage and income, the disappearance of outsourcing and the comprehensive hiring of workers and “of course social programs.”

Of the latter, he highlighted the Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults and the program for children in public schools from preschool to high school, “My scholarship to start” from the CDMX.

After assuring that “we are doing well”, the presidential candidate took advantage of the video to recall that “the opposition are the past, they are hollow phrases” and that they seek to “return to poverty and return to inequalities.”
