A shooting at an apartment complex left one man dead and another wounded Wednesday in Langley Park, authorities said.

According to a police report, chaos broke out at 5:30 p.m. at the end of the 7900 block of Riggs Road at The Marylander Apartments as a group of children played in the parking lot. The authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the deceased or the victim who is still being held at the hospital in critical condition.

Neighbors say that in the wooded area that surrounds their street on the Northwest Branch Trail there are camps of people, and it is not the first time that an event of this type has been recorded in the area.

“What we want is to ask Prince George’s to come clean the mountain. That’s where the bargains accumulate, they are not people from this community,” said a neighbor who preferred to remain anonymous.

The police have not specified the motive for the shooting nor have they made any arrests. The investigation continues.
