A hooded man fired from a vehicle before fleeing. Four victims are in Meurthe-et-Moselle, and one victim in Moselle.

A shooting left at least 5 injured, including three seriously this Saturday in Villerupt, in Meurthe-et-Moselle and in a neighboring town in Moselle, not far from the Luxembourg border, Agence France-Presse learned from the authorities.

A hooded man fired from a vehicle before fleeing, Guillaume Petitclair, first deputy mayor of the town of Villerupt, told AFP. Three injured were classified in absolute emergency, one of them with vital prognosis.

In Villerupt, “there are four injured, two of them seriously, one of them has just been helicoptered by the emergency services,” he told AFP. “These are three young men and a young woman, who are probably between 15 and 20 years old.”

Possible link to drug trafficking

According to a close source, this shooting could be linked to drug trafficking, which the investigation will have to determine. She was entrusted to the SRPJ (regional service of judicial police) of Metz.

“There are four victims in Meurthe-et-Moselle, and one victim in Moselle”, confirmed the secretary general of the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Julien Le Goff, stressing that the town of Villerupt is at the limit of the two departments.

“Among them, there are three people in absolute emergency, including one with a vital prognosis, and another in relative emergency,” he added.

He indicated that “significant means of personal assistance and security” have been mobilized. About “fifteen” police were sent as reinforcements from Nancy and Metz to secure the premises, in addition to the investigators.
