Starting in February, VTV will increase by 80% and there will also be an increase in metered parking in the City. In the latter case, for the first time, the progressive rate in downtown Buenos Aires, the area with the greatest demand. As anticipated in the Secretary of Transport of the City, it will be necessary to pay 30% more for each hour from the second.
The parking hour will increase from $45 to $81. Meanwhile, the increase in the Vehicle Technical Verification will be applied in two sections: in February there will be a first increase of 80% and for May the rate will be 131% more expensive.
In this way, the value of VTV for cars it will go from $4,024 to $7,242 in February and to $9,296 in May. For motorcycles it will jump from $1,513 to $2,723 in February and $3,495 three months later.
Since 2016, in the City the VTV is compulsory for vehicles more than 3 years old or more than 60 thousand kilometers and for motorcycles that are over a year old. Since then, almost 4 million verifications have been carried out.
The most frequent failures for which vehicles are rejected are related to lights (30.15%), brakes (17.04%), tires (15.40%) and pollution (15.04%).

The non-binding public hearing that must be held before applying the VTV increase will take place on Monday, January 30. That same day, in another hearing, the increase in metered parking will be discussed, which will be 80% and will be implemented in February. The hour will go from $45 to $81.
Why is metered parking increasing in the City?
“This update is necessary to favor the rotation of vehicles in one of the most dynamic areas and with the highest concentration of activities in the City (part of Retiro, San Telmo, San Nicolás, Monserrat, Recoleta and Balvanera)”, they affirm from the Government porteño.

Metered parking works Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Sundays and holidays it is not valid. Metered parking without parking meters and 100% digital was launched since June. Neighbors can pay from an app or buy “parking hours” at participating businesses.
The last time the VTV rate and metered parking was updated was in January 2022.
