Sketch of alleged attacker of young man walking across pedestrian bridge in Waltham revealed

A sketch of who would be the alleged attacker of a young woman who was attacked while walking on the Riverwalk in Waltham, Massachusetts, this weekend was released by authorities in the hope that the suspect can be found.

The sketch shows a man with a goatee and a baseball cap, which he was allegedly wearing when the attack occurred Sunday night. He is believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30 and is approximately 5’7” inches, according to state and local police.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call 911 or contact State Police Detectives at 617-740-7544 or Waltham Police at 781-314-3600.

“We urge the public to be aware of their surroundings and the presence of others around them when walking in any public space. People should carry a cell phone, not use headphones, and may also consider carrying pepper spray. If they see anything anyone suspect call 911 immediately. If you are attacked, if possible, yell, make noise and defend yourself,” state police said in a statement.

A woman, in her 20s, told police she was walking on the pedestrian bridge that spans the Charles River between Newton Street and Farewell Street on Sunday night when a man grabbed her from behind and tried to cover her mouth. with his hand, state troopers said in a news release Monday morning.

Last fall two women were mugged in the area. Police said this week that they have not made any arrests in those incidents and could not confirm whether they are related to the latest attack.
