The image of a white balloon over the US state of Montana has been around the world since Friday. Apparently it was a spy tool. The USA are sure that the balloon came from China – and shot down the missile.
Such sightings – not only over the USA, by the way, but also over Canada and Colombia – raise questions: What was China trying to find out?

China insists the balloon was not used for espionage but to investigate weather events. He accidentally got lost in US airspace and the US Air Force’s decision to shoot him down was completely exaggerated.
