A celebration of equality, inclusion and love returns to Wilton Manors this Saturday: the Stonewall Pride Parade, which many thought would not take place as the Florida government passes laws that many believe affect the LGBTQI community.

Scott Newton, Mayor of Wilton Manors, says:

“Here we are again, despite what is happening in Tallahassee. We are going to have a great stop”.

For the first time in 24 years, the organizers have published a code of conduct for the event, considered this year as “family”.

No nudity, sexually explicit language, touching in a sexual way, no sexualized dancing, no sex toys, pornography, or items that simulate genitalia.

Everyone must wear at least one bathing suit and in the case of women, and those who identify as women or wear breast prostheses, must have them covered.

“There is no difference. That has always been our code. We have highlighted it because we know it will be a family event and there will be children and we want to be respectful,” said the mayor.

The stop will begin at 7 pm and will go all the way down Wilton Drive until it reaches Northeast 6th Avenue where there is a stage for activities that will take place afterwards.

The Wilton Manors gay pride parade has created high expectations.
