The universe of Stranger Things has not finished expanding! With a play, an animated series, a book on Eddie Munson, a live-action spin-off and of course the fifth and final season of the show, the Duffer brothers have not finished surfing on the success of their jewel. However, they are working in parallel on a new project that is just as exciting! As revealed Deadline, they just signed a new deal with Netflix. The creators of Stranger Things are currently working with Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, the creators of The Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance on a series consisting of eight episodes titled The Boroughs. If they are only executive producers of this fiction, their company Upside Down Pictures will produce the entire The Boroughs. So what to expect and what are the similarities with Stranger Things ?
The Boroughs on Netflix, what to expect?
The plot of The Boroughs is set in the New Mexico desert and follows a retirement community. A group of unusual heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat and rob them of the one thing they don’t have: time. You got it, unlike Stranger Things, the main protagonists will be elderly people! However, they will have a major challenge to overcome, like Eleven, Max and the others. “The heroes are equally lovable and unique, and we can’t wait for you to join them in a sometimes scary, funny and deeply touching adventure” the Duffer brothers said in a statement.

When will the series be released The Boroughs on Netflix?
For now, the new series from the Duffer brothers and Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews is in development. It is assumed that the script has been validated since Matt and Ross Duffer have confessed “being fans of the showrunners’ writing and immediately knew they had something on their hands”. The time to complete the casting, start shooting then post-production, you should certainly not expect to discover The Boroughs before 2024 or 2025!
