The ex-president Mauricio Macri referred to the elections in the city of Buenos Aires and sent a message to the Buenos Aires head of government, Horacio Rodriguez Larretawhich analyzes enabling a concurrent election in CABA to unfold the elections and protect its agreement with the UCR.
“I don’t think Horace does that, it would be going against the neighbors. It is more state spending, more voting time, more lines; It would be going against everything we have been working on these years, ”he indicated in Radio Rivadavia. And he added: “You don’t have to change electoral rules in the same year and you don’t have to do them because of speculation on one side thinking that something will change, complicating people’s lives.”
“We must not change the rules thinking that in this way the vote of the Buenos Aires will be manipulated,” he completed.
In another passage of the report, Macri emphasized that a concurrent election “has never been held before in the city” and affirmed that “if politics thinks that by changing electoral rules the porteños are going to choose in a certain way, it is not knowing the porteños, that they are autonomous, independent”.
Consulted, the former president acknowledged that Larreta did not consult him about the voting methodology in CABA, although he pointed out that he did speak with Martin Lousteauwho seeks to maintain his candidacy despite the pressure so that the only candidate for head of government is Jorge Macri.
“I explained to him that it seemed good to me to look for all the possible mechanisms so that he could compete, but without affecting the Buenos Aires, that is the limit,” he said.

In a concurrent unfolding, the election would be held on the same day, but with a mixed voting system: the national candidacies (president and national deputies) would be voted with a traditional sheet ballot; while for local candidacies (Head of Government, legislators and community members) the Single Paper or electronic Ballot would be used.
The CABA Electoral Code allows this possibility. It is a way of unfolding the election without doing it. In this way, the national candidacies would be disconnected from the Buenos Aires categories. On the one hand, the presidential ballot and, on the other hand, the single ballot with the candidates for head of government.
“The majority of the PRO disagrees. I don’t think Horacio will make that decision because it goes against what we have worked for these years,” Macri said forcefully.
When asked about the political commotion caused by the crime of the bus driver in La Matanza, the former president charged harshly against the Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof, whom he called inept, ignorant and pathetic. “I see everything very pathetic, the level of ineptitude, lack of coordination and disregard for teamwork ”, He described his management.
“We see embarrassing fights between national and provincial officials. We see that more and more Argentines are being killed on the streets and that drug trafficking is advancing because the Kirchner government has a permissive attitude,” he stated.
He even referred to the criticism he received when he decided to ask for documents on trains during his presidency: “They questioned our measure and they started to get all the people off public transport. They think that the criminals are in the collective.”
Macri’s analysis of the Kicillof government also dates back to his time as Cristina Kirchner’s Minister of Economy: “He is among the three worst Economy Ministers in history. With the money he lost with YPF, the bondholders and the Paris Club, we would have highways throughout the country and none of the more than 5,000 Argentines who die every year in traffic accidents would die, to say just one thing; Or we would have to put tens of thousands of gendarmes throughout the country and put an end to drug trafficking, ”he said.
“The lack of a vocation to learn makes me sad, denying reality and blaming (Patricia) Bullrich. There is no chance of getting better when you blame someone else, there is no evolution. From 2019 until now they were ignorant, arrogant and harmful to society”, he said, alluding to Kicillof’s attempts to link the bus drivers who attacked the Buenos Aires Security Minister, Sergio Berni, with the PRO.
Then, referring to the management of Alberto Fernández, Macri pointed out that “All the government did is behave like a demolition army.” since -in his opinion- “everything that our government fixed was destroyed and what we could not fix was aggravated.” In this sense, he warned that “this setback was very painful for Argentines” and gave the closure of the El Palomar airport and the indebtedness as an example.
“It is the government that spoke the most about the debt and it is the government that has indebted Argentina the most in 3 years. That hurts us all. They can’t even look at the numbers from the Central Bank and they repeat that the money has fled. Today we are with negative reserves, ”he remarked about the economic situation.
In this context, he asked Minister Sergio Massa “to do something other than a patch so as not to kick the ball forward.” And he added: “That they do not continue aggravating the bomb that they are leaving with the lack of dollars and absurd resolutions that the only thing they do is favor corruption. Never seen such lack of coordination and lack of direction. We are in a dramatic situation, never seen in Peronism.”
