Subject entrenches himself in his residence and throws a Molotov cocktail at police officers

Police arrested a man at around 8:39 a.m. Tuesday who allegedly barricaded himself in his residence and threw a Molotov cocktail at police officers on PR-4453, in the Piletas Arce neighborhood, in Lares.

According to the authorities’ report, a call was received through the 9-1-1 Emergency System about an aggressive person at the scene. When the agents arrived, they noticed a car on fire and a man with a machete, who threatened to attack the agents from the Lares Precinct.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to put out the fire.

Subsequently, the individual barricaded himself in his residence, sprayed it with accelerant and threatened to burn it down. For this reason, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit was mobilized, which managed to place the individual under arrest.

The report reveals that, during the negotiation, the man threw the incendiary device at the agents who were working on the situation. The arrested man was transported to the Pavía Hospital in Arecibo, to be treated by the doctor on duty.

The subject was left in the cell, pending the filing of the corresponding criminal charges.

Potential jurors were interviewed one-on-one after they indicated they had been in contact with news of the case.
