“The body of us women must never cause hatred or shame,” explained Chiara Ferragni on the big show stage in Sanremo. Before reading a touching letter she wrote to her younger self.
“I’ve always tried to make you proud,” it said, among other things. “Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you. For the little girl I was. And everything I did was with the thought of not being enough. I want to tell you one thing above all: you are enough, you always have been, all the times you didn’t feel good enough, strong enough, beautiful enough, you were.
All too often in her life, Chiara Ferragni has been swept by waves of hate. She is attacked and insulted mostly anonymously, especially online. For her looks, her job, her choice of clothes. But the influencer doesn’t want to let that get her down. She pleads for a free, happy and self-determined life.
“This illusion of nudity is meant to remind everyone of the right and equality of the sexes to show up, to expose themselves without having to feel judged or guilty,” she explains of her nude dress.
The influencer wants to give a voice to “all women in the world who are ostracized and abused”. All “those who are told that their bodies cause shame, that they are only an object of desire, or that they lead to sin”.

︎ “Are you an escort mother?”, “Soon there will be a porn…” is written, among other things, on the white Dior dress that Chiara also wore in Sanremo – a statement against all haters.
“With this dress we bring to the stage some of the criticism of Chiara about her looks, her body and above all her freedom to feel like a woman and a mother,” says Ferragni’s Instagram page. “The slurs embroidered with black beads are the insults that haters write on their Instagram posts every day and that she fights against every day.”
The dress is intended to “remind women not to let haters get them down, because only the opinions of those who love us really count.”
︎ On a white stole, which the influencer wears over a black dress, the translation reads: “Think freely”.
The simple but powerful words aim to inspire all women to “feel free and step out of the role that society has imposed on them,” according to the statement.
︎ The “cage” dress that Chiara Ferragni wore also stood for something: “For the hope of breaking the conventions imposed by patriarchy. A hope we place in the little girls of today who will be the women of tomorrow.”
