Putting three series together is a difficult task at first, even if they come from the same genre. And you can tell that from the crossover. The authors were obvious ambitiousbut the case must arg complicated to really let the three teams find each other. The problem: they are too different. Every team has its expertise, its chemistry, its strengths and weaknesses. The case that lets these versatile troops work together must therefore be very cerebral and constructed being. And that is exactly the death of the professor who apparently committed suicide.
There are also numerous time jumps, to justify the journeys the protagonists have to make to see each other. Washington, Los Angeles and Hawaii are not all located in the Ruhr area.
One can positively emphasize the purely technical and cinematic component of the crossover. You obviously have a few here extra dollars issued to give the whole thing a high quality look.
Anyone who was looking forward to the return of characters who had already left their series was disappointed. After all: Hetty Lange alias Linda Hunt could be heard on the phone. Gibbs, on the other hand, was mentioned several times, but actor Mark Harmon did the honors, as did the possible soon-to-be-returners Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo aka Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David.
It is not yet certain when the German fans will get a taste for the crossover. Sat.1, which holds the rights to the series, should not miss out on a corresponding event evening.
