Things have been better for Romelu Lukaku before. The loanee has only made nine appearances in Serie A since his return to Inter Milan in the summer. Two injuries paralyzed the 29-year-old before the World Cup in Qatar, and during the tournament the Belgian was notable for failing to convert chances. And he hasn’t scored a goal since play resumed in Italy.
Still, Lukaku appears to have a future with the Nerazzurri. As the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ reports, the Milanese would like to keep their storm tank beyond the end of the season. Lukaku’s loan ends in the summer, as of now he should return to Chelsea. However, Inter are aiming for another loan deal.
The club is in regular contact with Sebastien Ledure, the 29-year-old’s agent. Concrete talks about the future of the striker should begin when the two round of 16 matches in the Champions League against FC Porto are in the can in mid-March.
Lukaku also wants to stay
At Lukaku himself, the Milanese would break down open doors. “I hope to stay at Inter, Inter is everything for me”the Belgian explained at the beginning of the year.
