Told by a beautiful cinematic, the scenario of Minecraft Legends would have its place in a spin-off of the Lord of the Rings. As peace reigns over the Overworld, monsters with loud snouts emerge from a dimensional portal, spreading terror and desolation. Although coming from the Mordor of the poor (the Nether for those who follow), these tenebrous beings – called Piglins – are sufficiently numerous for three entities, ACTION, KNOWLEDGE and CLAIRVOYANCE, to decide to intervene by appealing to the lucky pear of the player. After a cosmetic selection (allowing them to choose their hero and their mount), the trio invites the chosen one to a makeshift tutorial so that the latter can get used to their favorite instrument: a lute! A tool serving as a decoy to Allays, small creatures responsible for collecting resources (wood, stone, coal, etc.) while summoning golems acting as assault, defense and healing units. In short, from the first minutes, the inspirations of the RTS genre are palpable and we then expect to discover a host of constructions, materials, missions… No luck, this is not really the case and we realize that the game has its ass between two chairs.
