Guatemala City, Aug 19 (EFE).- The Argentine striker Matías Rotondi scored this Saturday one of the three goals with which the Municipal achieved its first victory in the Apertura 2023 soccer tournament in Guatemala, over (3-1) the Mixco.
The victory for the Municipal included a great goal from a ‘Chilean’ midfielder by Rotondi, twice awarded as the top scorer in Guatemalan soccer.
The other goals for Municipal, one of the two most popular and winning clubs in Guatemala, were the work of José Carlos Martínez and Cuban Yasnier Martos.
Rotondi’s team reached the fourth date of the tournament without wins, which was played this Saturday in its entirety with six games due to the elections that take place on Sunday in the Central American country.
For its part, the Guatemalan champions, Xelajú, lost 1-0 in their visit to Cobán Imperial, with a goal from the Brazilian Thales Moreira.
LEADER VICTORY
The leader of the tournament, Antigua, continues with a perfect record in four games after beating Zacapa 1-0 this Saturday.
The winning goal for Antigua, led by Costa Rican Rónald González, came through striker Dewinder Bradley.
For its part, Comunicaciones, the other most popular team in Guatemala, drew 1-1 as a visitor at the home of Coatepeque.
Panamanian Jorman Aguilar scored for Comunicaciones, while Coatepeque equalized with a goal from José Palma.
In other matches, Guastatoya beat Achuapa 1-3 at home and Malacateco thrashed Xinabajul 4-1. EFE
