Manchester City, in a great display of football, thrashed Arsenal 4-1 yesterday, closing the gap between them in the fight for the Premier League title. With a double from Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, one from English John Stones and another from Norwegian Erling Haaland, Josep Guardiola’s City achieved an undisputed victory at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. English defender Rob Holding discounted for Arsenal.

City obtained the seventh victory in a row, reached 73 points and was only two behind the leader Arsenal (75), with two games to play. The “Gunners” only obtained three points in their last four matches.

The “early final” between the tournament entertainers left the Manchester team as the great winner, with five days remaining for the conclusion.

The former River, Julián Álvarez, world champion in Qatar 2022, entered 35 minutes into the second half for De Bruyne.

The “Citizens” dominated from start to finish. They became protagonists from the beginning with possession of the ball and verticality.

The first conquest was not long in coming. And it was through De Bruyne. City’s second goal came from Stones’ header (subject to VAR verification).

The trend continued in the second stage and the locals stretched the lead with another goal from De Bruyne, after a new loan from Haaland. Arsenal discounted at the end through Holding’s accurate strike, at the door of the area and City sealed the win with Haaland’s goal.
