There is already a ‘fierce and violent struggle’ in Juárez: Salas

With or without the pressure that the search for “Los Chapitos” may bring on the part of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States Government, in Juárez there is already a “fierce and violent” fight for the control of some criminal activities, declared in an interview the District Attorney for the North Zone, Carlos Manuel Salas.

“The Sinaloa Cartel, Killer Artists, La Línea, Aztecas, Mexicles have disputed the territory… From the borders of Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Durango; from Coyame, Ojinaga, the Valley, or Buenaventura, Casas Grandes and even Juárez”, the state official specified.

It was the criminal analysis and investigation expert José Carlos Hernández Aguilar who pointed out that the issuance of rewards and forthcoming extradition requests against the sons of the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, by the DEA will have repercussions in Chihuahua given the presence of the criminal organization in Chihuahuan territory.

“Los Chapitos” are wanted by the DEA for their alleged participation in the entry and distribution of fentanyl to the United States, which Hernández Aguilar considered “constitutes a true squeeze of a political nature against the passivity and indolence of the Mexican government” and could mean the distribution of fentanyl in large quantities in Mexico given the impossibility of trafficking it to the neighboring country to the north.
