The CTIC completes a year of operations with more than 95% satisfaction of its patients

The experiences of the patients, in terms of quality, support the good results of the center since it started operating. The surveys exceed 95% satisfaction, backed by humanized care, the center’s interest in physical comfort and the presence of healing environments leveraged by a physical infrastructure that is at the level of the best in the world.

For this reason, the CTIC has not stopped growing and its specialists have cared for people from the subsidized (33%), contributory (52%), additional health plans and individuals (15%). Of these, 54% come from other regions such as Cundinamarca, Boyacá, Llanos Orientales, Amazonia, Pacific Coast, Caribbean Coast, and even from other countries.

In essence, these patients represent 22,000 outpatient consultations, 12,000 diagnostic imaging studies, more than 6,500 radiotherapy sessions, 2,800 therapy applications; 1,600 surgeries, including robotic procedures, and a level of hospitalization that exceeds 3,000 patients, which configures a statistic that already outlines high-impact indicators for the health of all Colombians.

“These patients who come from outside of Bogotá, from all regions of Colombia, including regions of indigenous populations and people who live in very remote areas, have found in CTIC an opportunity to access their treatments and start a process to fight against a disease as complex as cancer”assured Rafael Sánchez, executive director, in an interview with EL TIEMPO.

It should be noted that 86% of the patients, who entered the CTIC comprehensive care model, were evaluated in multidisciplinary medical boards for the definition of their individualized and effective treatment plan, thus achieving the construction of memorable moments for their patients and families, by identifying and managing their needs.

During a previous interview with EL TIEMPO, Sánchez explained that it is a database that has all the necessary structure to be able to do research. The director stated that they have already exceeded the first 1,000 patients with all the required information on the different types of tumors treated.

“In this way, in a short time, we will have a very significant volume of patient data that will allow us to carry out research protocols, both retrospective and prospective, in order to generate better knowledge,” he explained.

In addition, and thanks to Invima’s Good Clinical Practices (BPC) certification, the Center has started the operation of the first unit of phase I clinical studies (early experiments) in the country and is planning to open 11 phase III studies. short term.

“In addition, for the CTIC, having an institutional H index of 8.4 (number of times the same scientific article has been cited) indicates that we are conducting quality research, with local and international impact, which in the future will increase the positioning of the Institute for Research and Education, as well as its visibility in the academic field”complemented the executive director.

Likewise, it bet on caring for the environment from the moment of its creation. “Obtaining the LEED Healthcare Gold certification, granted to sustainable buildings, is a sign of our commitment to the environment,” said Dr. Sánchez.

Finally, the executive director indicated that the CTIC continues one step forward, working on new services and projects such as the implementation of the Functional Unit for Bone Marrow Transplants.

He also highlighted that the center will hold a series of symposiums, which will bring together national and international experts in the field of oncology. “These events will be an opportunity to explore new perspectives, promote collaboration, and deepen our understanding of the challenges and advances that lie ahead for cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research,” added Dr. Sánchez París.
