The European Commission cancels the grant awarded to a Turkish organization that sees women as slaves

The European Commission has suspended the funds they gave to a Turkish organization that was part of the program Erasmus+ for the vision it transmits of women, Europe and terrorism.

The organization, called Yavuz Sultan Selim, officially fights, according to its statutes, “against Islamophobia”, although its implementation is far from what they claim. For them, the woman must “obey her master”, Germany is an Islamic country and have ties to the Talibanso Brussels has decided to cut ties at the root.

It is the youth brand of Ismailaga, an Islamic organization that support President Erdogan. She was one of those who advocated for Turkey’s departure from the Istanbul Convention in 2011, the European Council’s Human Rights treaty for opposing the fight against violence against women.

Despite this, and with the aim of promoting European values in other societies, the Commission awarded a grant of €31,455 for their participation in the Erasmus+ program, to encourage young people to experience social and cultural exchanges. The project consisted of helping young people – both men and women – to fight against discrimination in the Muslim world. Said aid is the one that has been cancelled.

The stoppage comes after a group of MEPs specifically asked the Community Executive about it. They could not understand that EU funds were going to an Islamic organization that was against women’s equality and that he defended that Germany was Islamist. After the assassination of the Frenchman Samuel Paty, Yavuz Sultan Selim assured that Turkey had to protect Islam against immoral attitudes and that Europe was an “enemy”.

Although the question was raised with the Commission in April, the answer has now arrived. Indeed, they cannot justify that European funds are allocated to this type of organization, for which reason the order has been given to suspend the grant. According to Vice President Margaritis Schinas, the beneficiaries of the funds must always “respect the values of the Union”, something that Yavuz Sultan Selim did not do.

Of course, the Greek guaranteed that the Turkish organization had agreed to the subsidy after passing all the controls of the Erasmus + program and that they have put in place the mechanisms so that Give back the money.
