Today, millions of players finally get to start their own adventure as wizards or witches in Hogwarts Legacy (provided they’ve pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition, otherwise it’s Friday), the long-awaited role-playing game from Avalanche Software and Warner. A title that really convinced us and that contains endless hours of entertainment where fans of JK Rowling’s magical wizarding world will find everything they always wanted in a video game.
Hogwarts is essentially modeled after the first two Harry Potter films (The Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets), in the case of the latter we have found a likely easter egg as a tribute to another notable Hogwarts student who will live within these walls for a century later: Hermione Granger.
It turns out that in one of the corridors near the wizarding classroom and Professor Fig’s office we can enter the toilet, and behind the last door (which has a sign that it is out of order) we find that someone has set up a stall for making of potions, with a pile of books and ingredients scattered on the floor. Also, the cauldron is overflowing with a strange green liquid that could be Polyjuice Potion.
Polyjuice Potion does not appear in Hogwarts Legacy, so the most likely option is that it is an easter egg created as a tribute to Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, where she famously used a similar setup to brew the potion. With it, she managed to help Harry Potter and Ron Weasley briefly transform into Crabble and Goyle in an attempt to get information from Draco Malfoy about the Chamber of Secrets and the Heir of Slytherin.
Of course, this is not the only secret that Hogwarts Legacy hides as a tribute to the Harry Potter story (we didn’t want to spoil any more for you, though) and other literary classics. An example of the latter is that we found a place on a high point next to Hogsmeade with a strange tea party that could have jumped out of the pages of Alice in Wonderland – but with a sniffer instead of marsh hare.
