It had to happen one day, here is finally the trailer for The Marvels. The sequel to the adventures of Captain Marvel.
The very powerful Captain Marvel is finally back and Disney and Marvel finally decide to lift the veil on The Marvels via a very first trailer. It actually arrives a little earlier than expected. So, after a teaser and a poster we can finally discover almost 2 minutes of video. What to expect ?
The Marvels alias Captain Marvel 2
The film The Marvels (Captain Marvel 2) is written and directed by Nia DaCosta, a young director who we know in particular for having made the horror film Candyman. This will be her third film and it will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. This character is particularly known within Marvel to become Captain Marvel 2 after Carol Danvers. Obviously the actress Iman Vellani is back after the series Miss Marvel to reprise her role as Kamala Khan. The film should therefore make it possible to have a particularly strong female cast, even if we also find the very talented Samuel L. Jackson with his character of Nick Fury.
So be careful, The Marvels will not be just a movie about Captain Marvel. In effect, lThe title also refers to the original “Marvels”, a group of heroes that appeared in a 1994 Marvel comic book miniseries.. This group was made up of characters such as the Human Torch, Namor the Prince of the Seas or even the Justice. For the moment the trailer does not indicate anything about a potential presence of these characters.
Besides, the details of the plot are them for the moment kept secret, but the feature film should explore the dynamic between the different heroes and introduce new key characters for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will also be an opportunity to understand why Monica Rambeau has powers very close to those of Carol Danvers. (If you’ve read the comics, you already know).
The return of a cult character
The nice surprise of this trailer it’s the return of Goose, Mar-Vell’s former pet having the appearance of a ginger cat. The noble Feline should (normally) still belong to Nick Fury if we follow the logic of the events of the first film Captain Marvel.
The Marvels is planned for the November 10, 2023 in dark rooms.
