The team behind the Metro series, 4A Games, is mainly based in Kyiv, Ukraine and has therefore naturally been affected by the ongoing Russian invasion. We have previously been able to write about developers who lost their lives, and unfortunately they are not the only ones.

In a long post confirms the developer that they are continuing to work on Metro 4, which has been in development since 2020, but adds that the story is affected by these fateful events that affect everyone working on the adventure.

“All the themes of Metro – conflict, power, politics, tyranny, repression – are now part of our daily life experiences. So, we’re embracing them and weaving them into the game with a renewed purpose. Just like you, we’ re really looking forward to the day when we’re able to share more info on them. The goals for our projects that we posted in our last update remain the same.”

They have also released the Metro Exodus SDK, which unlocks the entire source code and allows fans of the game to play with all the assets, mechanics and textures to develop mods.

We send our thoughts to 4A Games and remind you that Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, who wrote the Metro books the games are based on, is wanted by Russia because, according to the regime, he has “wrong” views on the war.
