The Netherlands announced on Wednesday their “intention” to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced his “intent” to supply Patriot missiles to Ukraine on Tuesday during an interview with US President Joe Biden in Washington.

“We intend to partner with what you are doing with Germany on the Patriot project,” he said from the White House, indicating that he also spoke with Chancellor Olaf Scholz “this morning” on the question.

A promise hailed by Joe Biden

Mark Rutte cited the “terrible images” of a building destroyed by a Russian strike on Saturday in Dnipro, assuring that they “further strengthen our determination to support Ukraine”.

Joe Biden welcomed the Dutch Prime Minister’s announcement and denounced the Russian actions “which seem hardly believable”.

The United States announced at the end of December to provide a Patriot anti-aircraft defense system to Ukraine, during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelesnky to the American federal capital.

Berlin had also agreed to deliver one of these systems, of American manufacture, on January 5.
