the other names you have in mind for your cabinet

In his government plan, presented 15 days ago, the presidential candidate of La Libertad Avanza, Javier Mileyproposed a cabinet of eight ministries, without public companies or self-governing bodies. His scheme contemplates a minimum of secretaries and addresses, but without firing public employees.

In his first television appearances, the applicant assured that he has defined the names but only ratified two: Diana Mondino in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Sandra Pettovello in Human Capital, which would merge the current portfolios of Health, Education and Social Development.

If the results of the primaries are reissued in October, both will be elected deputies for the City of Buenos Aires, so if Milei wins the presidential elections they should resign and leave their seats to the rest of the women on the list. They would not be the only cases.

Pottovello has a degree in Family Sciences from the Austral University and for a year has been advising Milei on her plan to sustain the social plans until they can be replaced by direct employment.

For Defense and Security, the names will be provided by the vice candidate victoria villarrueldaughter of a soldier and ex-combatant from Malvinas.

One of those boxes will be occupied by the lawyer Guillermo Montenegro, third on the list of deputies from the province of Buenos Aires, where he arrived at the request of the legislator, with whom he shares membership in the Buenos Aires Democratic Party. Both face a complaint from the ex-authorities for alleged falsification of signatures.

dance of names

In an interview with LN+Milei hinted that her next interior minister would be william francos, executive director of the IDB and one of the economists he most respects. They met in a think tank what did he put together Daniel Scioli and then they shared offices at Corporación América. Francos has a political career that may well mean the nickname of “caste”: he was a national deputy of the PJ and presided over Banco Provincia in the 90’s. Last year he approached the libertarian to advise him on the national assembly and provided him with most of his new environment.

For Milei, Francos is the only one who can help him negotiate with the governors, who in their government plans threaten to take away the transfers and works approved in the budgets. He still has the hardest part left: convincing him.

In his television appearances, the presidential candidate said he had defined the future Minister of the Economy, but he did not give the name. He describes him as “more orthodox than him” and assures that he came to speak for 11 hours straight about libertarian authors. A name that flies over is the Emilio Ocampos, who put together his plan for dollarization, but the libertarian space rules it out. Among the leaders of LLA they mention Augustine Monteverde y Nouriel Roubini, although the ex-menemistas carlos rodriguez y Roque Fernandez are listed to fill a position. The first is also mentioned in some coordination function.

The public accountant would also have a place Dario Epstein, one of those in charge of initiating negotiations with the IMF. Another economist mentioned as part of Milei’s entourage is the president of Banco de Valores, Juan Napoli, candidate for national senator.

If the results of the primaries are repeated in October, he would not be able to win the bench and could well join the cabinet. Some of the economists could occupy the Ministry of Infrastructure, which without public works in the budget would become a credit negotiator.

The other Ministry to cover is that of Justice: Milei’s most trusted lawyer is Diego Spanishthough it is unclear whether he would accept public office.
