On January 13, 2023 get in touch “The Public Prosecutor” back on ZDF. In the eight new episodes of the ZDF series, there are personnel changes in Bernd Reuther’s team after a tragic death.

In the first of the new episodes, Reuther, Chief Inspector Kerstin Klar and Chief Inspector Max Fischer investigate the murder of the chief accountant of a Wiesbaden start-up company. Meanwhile, they encounter another death from the past. Then the team is hit hard: Chief Inspector Max Fischer (Max Hemmersdorfer) is fatally injured.

Already in the next episode joins Julia Schröder (Anika Baumann), a new chief inspector starts her service. While Reuther and colleagues want to clarify the death of a sawmill owner, the public prosecutor has to cope with another departure: Kerstin Klar, traumatized by the fate of her colleague Max Fischer, wants to resign.

In the third episode “Light and Shadow”, which revolves around the murder of the head of a consulting firm, another new investigator joins the group: Chief Inspector Alexander Witte (Jannik Mioducki).

What is behind the double exit? The outgoing commissioners have spoken to ZDF. Fiona Coors, who has been chief inspector Kerstin Klar since the first episode, goes out at her own request. “18 years is a long time. My recent milestone birthday made me realize that it’s time for something new.” Max Fischer actor Max Hemmersdorfer also wants to “face new challenges” after 23 episodes in Wiesbaden.
