Oprah Winfrey will star in Six Triple Eight, the next film from Tyler Perry. The famous American presenter joins the cast of actress Kerry Washington in this historical drama about World War II, produced by Netflix.

Based on the true story of the 6888th Postal Directory Battalion, this film will trace the genesis of this unique battalion made up of 855 black women, responsible for delivering three years of unsent mail to their recipients during the war.

A first appearance since 2018

As reported by the American media varietyto write the scenario of this film, Tyler Perry was inspired by an article of the historian of the American army Kevin M. Hymel about this battalion published in the WWII History Magazinespecializing in World War II.

On March 14, 2022, President Joe Biden signed a bill to honor the 855 women of the 6888th Postal Directory Battalion by awarding them the Congressional Gold Medal, Congress’ highest honor.
