The White House insists that the US does not support attacks inside Russian territory

MADRID, July 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The White House spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, insisted on Monday that the United States does not support attacks inside Russian territory, referring to the two Ukrainian drones sent to Moscow, the Russian capital, and which have been intercepted by the city’s defenses.

“Regarding the drone attacks in Moscow (…) we do not support attacks inside Russia. But we have also made it clear that Crimea is Ukraine,” Jean-Pierre said during a press conference.

In addition, he has assured that Russia could end this type of attack “at any time” if they withdraw their troops from Ukraine instead of “launching brutal attacks against civilians”, something they have been doing “for more than 15 months”.

“Russia has been shelling the Ukrainian port of Odessa, killing and injuring Ukrainian civilians, devastating the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated World Heritage Site and destroying hundreds of thousands of tons of grain that were to be shipped around the world,” the spokeswoman added.

Jean-Pierre has reiterated that the United States will continue to send security aid packages to the country, as they have done since the start of the war, to support them in “their fight for freedom and sovereignty.”

After withdrawing from the agreement last week, Russia has redoubled its offensive against key Ukrainian ports that export grain, specifically in the Odessa region, which has been hit hard in recent days.

In fact, UNESCO has condemned the latest Russian attacks against the historic center of Odesa, where there are several museums with world heritage status and which has damaged the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Literature or the great Orthodox cathedral.
