From Aguas Bonaerenses (ABSA) it was indicated in the afternoon that “maintenance tasks were in process at the ‘Donato Gerardi Water Treatment Plant’, located in Punta Lara.”
From the state firm it was indicated that “these interventions cause a decrease in the flow of water sent to La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada, being able to generate low pressure in the three cities.”

Regarding the restitution of the service, it was indicated: “Until the tasks are completed, it is requested to reserve the water for uses related to hydration and essential household chores. And at the same time, avoid non-priority uses of network water, such as filling pools, car washing and irrigation, among others”.
Among the claims that this newspaper received, Marta, a neighbor from the Plaza España area, pointed out that “in the area of 7 and 64” they had a total water cut in the afternoon. “ABSA automatically responds that it is for work at the Punta Lara Plant and when they answer me they say that it is the Parque San Martín Plant. They assume that it will not normalize until 7:00 p.m., they answer me. In other words: there is no solution. When the temperatures rise there is no water,” said the neighbor.
“Just today?” Francisco, a resident of the Barrio Jardín area, wondered about carrying out work at the Ensenada plant. Yesterday afternoon, they were there with “a trickle of water.” The neighbor said that he contacted the borrower and that way they gave him the part about the work that was also communicated in an official statement.
Apparently, the problem spread beyond the City. “It’s hell with these temperatures and the taps are dry. The water does not reach the bathroom, the shower. You can’t wash clothes, do the basics,” said María Alejandra, a neighbor of Berisso. “This is chaos, it dates back at least a month.”
Something similar happened in the area of 78 bis between 5 and 6: “We have been without water for about a month. I am 60 years old and my mother is 86. We have to buy drums. We made the corresponding claims and nobody listens to us. You can’t wash clothes, sanitize, cool off with these temperatures. The bottle is for drinking only. We can’t pay more”, lamented Amanda about the painting that touches them in that area.
They also know about the purchase of bottled water in Villa Castells, Gonnet. There, they have been waiting for several years for a work that restores potability to the tap water. Of the one that comes with more sodium than allowed, there is no: “The water is not drinkable, but we do not have it. I paid the bill all my life. I don’t have a debt and I don’t have water. To drink I have to buy 6 drums or more per month,” said Liliana, a neighbor of 498 between 10 and 11. According to what she explained, to the 1,116 pesos per month that arrive on the ABSA bill, she adds some 5,400 pesos spent on drums of drinking water of 9 liters each. “Everyone on the block has the same low blood pressure problem,” she said.
In Tolosa, a similar scenario: “We live in 528 bis 11 and 12, we are elderly people who have been without water for three months. We don’t even have enough to brush our teeth. We have to go look for drums at the relatives’ house. I call ABSA every day and they don’t answer,” Ricardo complained.
