The Attorney General of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported that a group of armed civilians attacked 13 members of the Investigative Police (PDI) in the municipality of Flour Coatepec.
In a statement, the FGJEM indicated that after the attack, “five PDI agents needed to be hospitalized, where they were reported out of danger, three of them were discharged, while the elements named Julio César and Víctor Armando continue in the hospital to medical observation.
The Attorney of the State of Mexico detailed that the elements of the “Institution were beaten with sticks, sprayed with gasoline, and tried to strip them of their weapons, PDI elements of this Prosecutor’s Office, of the Secretary of Security, of the Secretary of National Defense, of the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination and the National Antihomicide Coordination came to support and managed to rescue him.”
“All the forcefulness of the law against the aggressors,” said the Attorney General of the State of Mexico, José Luis Cervantes Martínez, when visiting the elements in the hospital.
It was reported after the incident, the FGJEM initiated the corresponding investigations with the purpose of identifying, arresting and presenting before the judicial authority whoever has perpetrated any illegal act in these acts against public servants of this State Prosecutor’s Office.
Until now, the reason why the inhabitants attacked the 13 elements of the PDI is unknown.
