HOUSTON — Authorities have identified the man accused of putting an 86-year-old woman in a headlock and robbing her in a shocking incident captured on Ring Doorbell camera. According to court documents, Melvin Walker, 60, faces several charges related to various crimes.
Walker faces one count of aggravated robbery in connection with the assault caught on video. An arrest photo of him shows him wearing a shirt that appears to be the same one he is wearing in the victim’s doorbell camera footage.
In addition to the robbery charge, Walker will appear before a judge to face charges related to driving a stolen vehicle, evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
Walker’s arrest came after Houston police released video of the attack on Monday, the same day it happened. In the images of her, the victim can be seen watering the plants on her porch before the alleged attacker subjected her to a key and forced her to enter her house on Robertson Street, in north Houston. .
The assaulted woman was transferred to the hospital after the attack and until Wednesday morning she remained admitted in a state of recovery.
