HOUSTON – The city of Texas City previously issued a shelter-in-place order for the entire area east of Route 146 due to an incident at the Marathon GBR refinery.
With a statement, the company in question stated the following: ¨Marathon Petroleum personnel are responding to an operational problem at the Galveston Bay refinery sulfur plant and are working to resolve the problem. A limited refinery shelter-in-place has been declared for affected areas within the facility, and the City of Texas City has issued a shelter-in-place for affected portions of the community east of 146. Air monitoring is in progress and the appropriate agencies have been notified. No injuries have been reported. ¨
