Since Tuesday night, the Tamaulipas security spokesperson reported the death of a man at the aforementioned point.
This Wednesday afternoon, in the same account @VoceriaSegTamps, the identity of the subject who was shot was clarified:
“The identity of the person killed by assault with a firearm on Blvd. Luis Donaldo Colosio of #NuevoLaredo, is confirmed by family recognition, it is José Luis Palos Morales. The @FGJ_Tam is carrying out the corresponding investigation. Information in progress”.
It was unofficially reported that the businessman was driving his car when he was stopped by armed men, one of whom shot him in the head. Apparently, the victim had a hole in his hand, considered a defensive wound.
Palos Morales was a locally recognized millionaire as the owner of gasoline service stations, construction companies, and exchange houses.
The man had recently made complaints of extortion from organized crime to gas stations.
On April 13, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador denounced the threats against formally established businessmen and announced that he would send protection to this border city of Tamaulipas: “We support them, they will have surveillance and we will support them, but what don’t give in.”
