MEXICO CITY (apro).- This Thursday there will be nine states in the country that will have maximum temperatures above 45 degrees this Thursday, June 15, the National Meteorological Service predicted.

In its 6 p.m. report, the body of the National Water Commission (Conagua) forecast heavy punctual rains in Oaxaca and Chiapas.

This Wednesday four entities exceeded 45 degrees maximum temperature: Sinaloa, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas. By Thursday, these four states will be joined by Sonora, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche. The forecast is that they will maintain those high temperatures even on Friday.

The third heat wave will remain in the country until Friday the 16th, with temperatures above 40 degrees in 23 states of the country, the agency indicated in its forecast extended to 96 hours.

“An anticyclonic circulation at medium levels of the atmosphere will maintain the third heat wave over the national territory, including the Valley of Mexico, forecasting temperatures above 40 °C in 23 entities of the Mexican Republic, and may even exceed 45 °C in Sonora, Sinaloa, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche”, detailed the SMN in its 48-hour forecast of Meteorological Systems, with a validity period of 08:00 hours on Thursday 15 to 08:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023.

As for the forecast for this Thursday in the Valley of Mexico, clear skies with mist and a temperate environment are expected in the morning. During the afternoon, a hot atmosphere and partly cloudy skies, without rain in Mexico City and probability of isolated rains in the State of Mexico.

The minimum temperature in Mexico City will be from 15 to 17 °C and the maximum from 32 to 34 °C.

Rain forecast for June 15, 2023:

  • Intervals of showers with heavy punctual rains (25 to 50 mm): Oaxaca and Chiapas.
  • Intervals of showers (5 to 25 mm): Coahuila and Guerrero.
  • Isolated rains (0.1 to 5 mm): Nuevo León, Durango, State of Mexico, Michoacán, Veracruz and Quintana Roo.

Forecast of maximum temperatures for June 15:

  • Maximum temperatures above 45 °C: Sonora, Sinaloa, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche.
  • Maximum temperatures from 40 to 45 °C: Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Durango, Hidalgo, Puebla (north), Morelos and Yucatán.
  • Maximum temperatures from 35 to 40 °C: Baja California, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, State of Mexico (southwest) and Quintana Roo.
  • Maximum temperatures from 30 to 35 °C: Tlaxcala and Mexico City.

Wind forecast for June 15:

  • Wind with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and dust storms: Sonora and Chihuahua.
  • Wind with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h and possible dust storms: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Durango, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
