Veracruz Mexico.— Armed individuals simulated a security checkpoint to stop a tourist bus and forced the driver to enter the forest to strip passengers of cash and valuables on the Acayucan-Minatitlán Highway, in Veracruz.

Early this Friday morning, men stationed themselves in the middle of the road placing orange signs. Thus they managed to stop and rob a bus number 1205 from the same company that had left Tampico bound for Campeche.

The assault occurred at the height of Oteapan. Those affected reported that with weapons in hand, at least six people forced them to hand over belongings such as wallets with IDs, cell phones, cash, watches, rings, and chains, among others.

The passengers, with no way to report the incident, tried to stop motorists and waited for police officers to receive help.

Due to this event registered in the southern zone of Veracruz, no injuries were reported and no arrests were made at the moment.

State authorities assured that preventive operations have been carried out to avoid more events like this.

Just two weeks ago, another assault was committed with the same modus operandi on the transisthmian federal highway 180, in the Jáltipan-Acayucan section. Some 40 users of a unit of the ADO line that was going to Salina Cruz-Oaxaca, were affected.
