This 30-year-old soldier deplores a recurring situation in this district, which rots the lives of local residents, and is thinking of moving for his safety.

The scene took place last Sunday in the Brest district of Bellevue. That day, at the foot of the buildings, several young people indulge in an urban rodeo which irritates the residents, including Sylvain Gaillard, a soldier who tries at the end of the afternoon to stop the noise. In response, the 30-year-old man is the victim of a bewildering wave of violence.

“He came back with about twenty of his friends, there they threw themselves on me and beat me up. There was a young man with a baseball bat, another with a knife”, says- it with BFMTV.

A few days after the attack, the young man still bears the scars of the blows to his left eye, bloody, and the back of his skull which bears a hematoma. He also received three stab wounds in the buttocks which required hospitalization at the Cavale Blanche hospital.

“It’s every weekend”

Sylvain Gaillard, who has since been able to return to his apartment, is not angry and has filed a complaint against his attackers who have since fled. He describes recurring nuisances, which make the neighborhood unlivable.

“It’s recurrent, it’s every weekend from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., or even more,” he laments, still on our camera.

Faced with this inextricable situation, Sylvain thinks of leaving his apartment and moving. “Either rent it or sell it. I’m lucky to be in the military and to be able to return to base to be safer,” he said.

An investigation, entrusted to the police station of the city, was opened. The perpetrators of the attack have yet to be found.

The examples multiply

With the return of sunny days, urban rodeos, whose videos are multiplying on social networks, are once again making the headlines. Last Saturday in Bordeaux, 13 people were injured after a man lost control of his vehicle during one of these illegal events. In addition, an investigation was opened after the organization of an urban rodeo in the alleys of a shopping center in Isère.

In France, since August 3, 2018, a law has existed to try to stop this scourge. The authors of urban rodeo now incur 1 to 5 years in prison, up to 75,000 euros in fines, as well as the confiscation of their vehicle. The penalty can be increased if the rodeo is practiced in a meeting, under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or in the event of lack of a permit.
