PRI legislator Karla Franco Blanco presented an initiative to reform the Law of State Entrepreneurs, with the aim of providing young people with tools to consolidate themselves as agents of economic development in Yucatan.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) showed that in Mexico, 20 percent of young entrepreneurs started a business due to difficulty finding work; Furthermore, according to INEGI, 52 percent of entrepreneurs are young people under 35 years of age.

The PRI deputy, Karla Franco Blanco, explained that young people should be the new leaders in the economic growth of Yucatan, so that if this Law is reformed, equal conditions, equity and competitiveness will be promoted in favor of entrepreneurs who belong to this population sector.

“It is intended to modify in order to provide greater opportunities to this segment of the population. That is why we propose to provide young people with instruments so that they can consolidate themselves as agents of economic development ”, he stressed.

Working market

What was stated by the PRI is that 7 out of 10 young Yucatecans, between 18 and 29 years of age, face serious difficulties in entering the labor market, a situation that is reflected in the generation of their own enterprises. In fact, it is young people who have increased their percentage of participation in this area year after year, promoting projects to improve their living conditions.

Karla Franco’s proposal establishes that the criteria for the contribution of resources, support and programs for entrepreneurs must be focused from the perspective of equal conditions, equity and competitiveness, in order to potentiate creativity and strengthen sources of production and consolidate balanced regional development.

Yucatan economy

In this sense, he added, it intends to adapt the legal bases and promote projects developed by young people with the purpose of contributing to their insertion in the labor market and entrepreneurship, as well as expanding their opportunities and promoting their participation in the formal sector of the state economy.

It is also proposed to encourage entrepreneurial activity in the youth population, since they present inherent qualities such as creativity and innovation and, on the other hand, entrepreneurship represents a mechanism for the insertion of young people into the labor market and decreases the number of unemployed, benefiting the whole the society.

“Undoubtedly, entrepreneurship is an important engine for economic development, and young people are the ones who should be the new leaders in the economic growth of a developing state, such as Yucatan,” he concluded.
