Things is one Task management app for Apple devices, which allows users to organize and track their tasks, projects, and goals. It provides features such as creating to-do lists, assigning deadlines and reminders, and dividing tasks into projects and sub-projects.

Things is designed around a simple and intuitive interface and offers a wide range of customization options to meet users’ needs. The Stuttgart developers have been a mystery to me for years, because the one-time purchase per platform has been in development for what feels like ages without any further costs being incurred. But things like classic collaboration with other users in a team have been missing for years.

Now an update. Things 3.17 makes Things work better with Apple’s Shortcuts app on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Nine actions let users quickly browse their data, edit tasks, and create new objects (and even entire projects). This feature requires macOS 13 Ventura, iPadOS 16, or iOS 16. If you want to dig a little deeper, should take a look at the blog post.

These are the actions of Things for Apple Shortcuts:

• Create task

• Create task with quick entry – NEW

• Create Project – NEW

• Create Headline – NEW

• Find Objects – NEW

• Retrieve Objects – NEW

• Get Selected Objects – NEW

• Edit objects – NEW

• Duplicate Objects – NEW

• Delete objects – NEW

• Open list

• Show objects

• Execute Things URL

Also improved:

• “Related links” in advanced tasks are more accessible.

• The behavior when duplicating objects has been changed: Creation and modification dates are now set to the current date and time.

• An error has been fixed where, in some cases, the quick search icon was incorrectly displayed when dragging down.

• Fixed an issue where the caret sign was no longer displayed on the “+” key in the source list.

• The German localization has been updated in places related to sharing content outside of Things.
