MEXICO CITY (appro). – The 20-peso coin commemorating the centenary of the Mexican Army is one of the most valued on e-commerce platforms.

An example is Mercado Libre, in which a seller asks 200,000 pesos for this edition that was minted in 2013 and that shows the profile bust of a soldier.

One of the highest offers in Mercado Libre

On the website of the Bank of Mexico the characteristics of this piece are defined.

“The center of the field on the reverse is occupied by a set made up of the silhouette of a profile bust of a soldier with a helmet, flanked by the years 1913 and 2013, with the legends ‘100 years of the Mexican Army’, in the upper semicircle, and ‘ 100 years of loyalty’, in lower semicircle.

“In the upper margin you can see the denomination TWENTY PESOS (with letters); in the exergue the denomination $20 (with number); on the left margin the year of minting 2013 and, on the right, the mint mark of the Casa de Moneda de México ‘M’; graphic in elliptical frets”, details Banxico.

This coin entered into circulation on August 15, 2013, according to the central bank. It is still valid for making payments.

Like other coins from the same family, the obverse shows the National Shield in sculptural relief, with the legend United Mexican States in the upper semicircle.

All Family C coins (to which it belongs) have a diameter of 32 millimeters and weigh 15,945 grams.

The same coin is offered by other sellers at lower prices, but also in thousands of pesos.

Another Mercado Libre user asks for 14 thousand pesos for the same coin. Like the more expensive offer, neither seller has enough transactions to qualify for their reputation on the platform.

A seller who does have a good reputation according to the ratings of his customers offers the coins for 6,000 pesos.
