When the owners of Joker’n pizza in Bardufoss were to renovate their restaurant, they got a real surprise.

Even Ingebrigtsen, who is one of the owners, tore down the walls when he saw something completely unexpected:

– First there was an old-fashioned wallpaper, before an explosion of colors suddenly appeared, Ingebrigtsen tells TV 2.

It was Northern Lights who first mentioned the matter.

Colorful fun

As soon as he noticed that there was something behind the wall, he began to tear more cautiously and cautiously.

– Before I knew it, I could see the entire masterpiece.

Behind the wall was hidden a large, colorful graffiti artwork signed with the year 1985. Several people have also signed the wall with their names.

The premises have previously been used for both a boarding house and fish reception, but the graffiti wall turns out to date from when Vilje Café was in the building.

– This was a back wall where there was a DJ mixer in connection with a dance floor. It was a full party here, says Ingebrigtsen.

The owner has been told that a man from Kirkenes has carried out the graffiti work, and that there is a possibility that there is a similar wall on the second floor.

The pizza restaurant is located between two military camps, and Ingebrigtsen believes that several people who have been in the camps will remember the wall – or have written their name on it.

Will preserve the memory

After Joker’n pizza posted a video of the find on social media, several people have become involved in what should happen to the wall next.

Many want the wall to remain in the room, or move the masterpiece to another wall. Some also suggest taking a plexiglass in front to preserve the old graffiti wall.

The owners of the pizza restaurant have gone a few rounds with themselves to find out what to do with the graffiti work.

– We would have liked to take care of the wall and use it in our new project, but the damage to the wall was much greater than what can be seen in the video, Ingebrigtsen tells TV 2 and explains that it was damp and the wall had cracked. .

– But we have taken both pictures and videos. So who knows – suddenly a wallpaper or possibly a picture framed by the wall will be made to preserve the story.

After the renovation, the pizza restaurant will open up a daytime cafe operation with a lunch buffet, but they will still serve pizza.

Although the graffiti wall will not remain, the aim is to set up a stage for live music in exactly the same place where the masterpiece, the DJ table and the dance floor have been previously.
