The high temperatures and the rain threw a spanner in the works for the ski resorts.

The start of the Christmas holidays and downpours – the current situation is not ideal for the ski areas.

Downpours and temperatures in the plus range – a white Christmas is almost certainly no longer possible. The weather also made itself felt on the ski slopes on Friday. Markus Simma, Managing Director of the Damüls cable cars, said when asked by VOL.AT that not many skiers went to the slopes. Before Christmas, however, there is generally not much going on, most holidaymakers would only arrive after the holidays. Because of the plus degrees, there is no snowmaking either, but the slope is in very good condition.

In Damüls and Lech/Zürs there is still 45 centimeters of snow on the mountain. In the Silvretta Montafon it is 56 centimeters, Golm and Gargellen report 50 centimeters of snow – as does the Brandnertal.

weather forecast

While rainy weather is still forecast for December 24th, the sun should shine on Sunday. The thermometer will continue to remain in the double-digit plus range, at least in the valley. On Monday, St. Stephen’s Day, it will remain mostly sunny, with occasional fog over Lake Constance.
