ATLANTA — Three people died and one was injured by a shooting in Atlanta on Saturdayauthorities reported. The Atlanta Police Department said officers responded to a call on Peachtree Road NE in the Buckhead district on Saturday.

Three people in their 20s were pronounced dead at the scene and a fourth was taken to the hospital, the agency said. He added that the injured person was “alert, conscious and breathing.”

Homicide detectives went to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The shooting stemmed from drug dealing at 3005 Buckhead Apartments, he added.

“This was not a home robbery situation. We believe the perpetrators were invited for a drug exchange. “It was some type of drug transaction that took place inside the apartment,” Maj. Peter Malecki told WANF.
