The protesters’ demands are not for drinking water, for the installation of a medical post in their district, for a police station. The requests are political, the kind to leave Dina Boluarteclosing of the Congress, Constituent Assembly and the release of the coup leader Pedro Castillo to return to the Government Palace.
The just claims that the protests could have had have been left on the canvas with the violence exerted by cowardly bullies who send uninformed young people to the front whom they use as cannon fodder. They do not say a word to condemn the attacks by the radicals and it does not even occur to them to ask them to calm down and to stop, for example, attacking the airports, destroying the Metropolitano stations, throwing pieces of concrete at the police. They are the same ‘social fighters’ who incite people from the provinces from the comfort of their homes to continue with their irrational attacks, and at the same time condemn the Police because they ‘gas the people’. Unbelievable that they are so cheeky!
But the population has already realized their true intentions, that they only seek violence so that there are more deaths and thus be able to use them for their benefit. It is sinister, it is criminal, it is perverse, but that is how these people who claim to fight for the poorest operate. Faced with this situation, more Peruvians give their support to the Police that confronts the violent hordes.
The call ‘Taking of Lima’ last Thursday, which was broadcast on television channels, showed live and direct our policemen enduring on firm footing and in a sacrificial manner the murderous attacks that were launched at them with irons, bricks, stones, pieces of concrete and even hazelnuts that when they exploded in their bodies, they tore off pieces of meat. It was inhumane, brutal.
We Peruvians who saw those scenes wondered why the policemen to bear like that. Is your life worth less than that of the criminals who wanted to kill you? That is why they have appeared in different places in Lima, such as in the ‘Zanjón’, between the avenues 28 de Julio and Wilson, in the Panamericana Sur and others, support signs with the slogan ‘Police, resist. The people who work support you’.
