The grandmother first mentioned the activist and opponent Diasniurka Salcedo Verdeciawhom he described as “brave woman with a big heart, who from within Cuba faces the murderous dictatorship.”

“To Suri Abreu, who has supported and helped me since the beginning of this odyssey, to my sister Bárbara Ulabarro, to Ailin. To Mario J. Pentón who was aware of the case the entire time since I contacted him from the airport in Cuba, to Dody Paz, to Dr. Alexander Jesús Figueredo Izaguirre, to ADN Cuba, to Esteban Rodríguez. And to all those who shared and followed my case,” the woman highlighted, and she wished blessings to each of them.

Sao is the mother of Yenisley Perdomoa 37-year-old Cuban woman who died of cancer in Havana, on October 25, shortly after receiving a humanitarian visa to seek treatment abroad, since he was not receiving any treatment in Cuba.

Added to the pain caused by the loss of his daughter was the pain caused by the refusal of the regime to let her take her 11-year-old granddaughter with her to the United Statesdonde reside.

Sao spent the last year in Cuba taking care of her sick daughterbut after her death, she decided to take the minor with her, since her father is in prison.

“I am a resident of the United States and I have been in Cuba for almost a year taking care of my daughter and my 11-year-old granddaughter.. My daughter received her parole, but it was too late for her,” the lady lamented in a message in which he asked for help to make the trip possible.

My granddaughter has no one else because her father is in prison. and he agrees that I take the girl. We are practically helpless and I have not been able to take the girl because I need to get custody. It is a complex and time-consuming process. for reasons unknown to me. My granddaughter and I have no one else in this country and we also have no housing…”, she argued then.

Last Friday, grandmother and granddaughter arrived at the José Martí International Airport, but The authorities prevented them from flying, claiming that she did not have legal custody of the minordespite the fact that the father agreed to his final release from prison through a power of attorney.

Both plants remained in the air terminal for hoursuntil they were able to catch a flight on Saturday afternoon after changing airlines.
