Seven members of a family arrived in the United States after waiting for their immigration appointment in Mexico.

The event was celebrated in the Facebook group Cubans in Tapachula with an emotional publication made by none other than the owner of a hostel where they stayed during part of their journey through Mexican territory.

“Today is a super special day in the life of this beautiful family. They left Cuba like most families leave, selling their house, motorbike, car, cold, stove… well even the spoons… in pursuit of a dream, with faith in a better future, a future in freedom! !”, Lito Saints began writing.

“Leaving your homeland has never been easy, abandoning an entire life is not easy either, but when we decide to leave in search of a better life and we put God at the helm, our ship will always reach a better port. They were more than two months of hard journey, full of stress, fear, anguish and even at some point of despair, they were imprisoned, they put their lives at risk at sea, but they also had moments of peace, tranquility, and joy with us. and coexistence,” he added.

Lito Saints specified that This November 19 was not only the family’s migratory appointment at the Matamoros border but “with the destiny… of a better destiny, that destiny for which they gallantly, and like true warriors, dared to dream.”

“Carlos, Yamilka, Aimée… and children we wish you all the happiness, all the blessing of God in your lives. Today the dream is achieved!! Live this new reality in your new lives in the United States!” And remember in your hearts that here you will always have another port to return to on vacation, where we will welcome you with open arms,” Saints concluded.

There was also no shortage of praise for the author of the text, whom many celebrated for his sensitivity towards that Cuban family despite not being a native of the Caribbean island.

Cubans on the run

More than 18 thousand Cubans entered the United States by its land and sea borders in October. This is the highest figure since December of last year.

According to figures revealed by the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a total of 18,018 Cubans arrived by sea and land in the country, indicating that the migration crisis on the Caribbean island continues unstoppable.

28 entered through the northern border (Canada) and 12,495 through the southern border (Mexico). The rest of the migrants, more than 6 thousand, arrived by sea.

After a drop in the amount of land arrivals in the first months of the year – largely due to the establishment of the humanitarian parole program in January – October marked a significant rebound.

At the same time, fiscal year 2023 closed on September 30 with 200,287 applications from Cubans, just 24 thousand less than the previous period, when they crossed the borders 224,607 migrants of the island.

The statistics are a clear indicator that the Cuban immigration crisis continues without solution. Cubans continue to say goodbye to their lives in order to venture to fight for a better future.
