Dozens of people were temporarily displaced after a powerful fire in a multi-family building in Little Havana, Miami.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night, when a fire started in the kitchen of an apartment where a young couple and five children lived spread through the building, located on 21st Avenue and Flagler, the network reported. Univision.

Around 9:52 pm a neighbor called 911 to report the fire. At that time many of the residents were asleep and had to be awakened by rescuers.

At least 40 people had to leave the building and were housed in a hotel. Some Spanish and Cuban families lived in the building.

Firefighters entered through a window and managed to control the flames.

The affected families have not been able to return to their homes due to lack of water. The news channel stated that there is still a strong burning smell and everything remains wet from the water that firefighters used to control the fire.
