Tostitos recalls one of its "dips" for potentially deadly ingredient

Tostitos is recalling some of its salsa and avocado flavored dressings that may have been mislabeled.

Frito-Lay voluntarily recalled some of its 15 oz. of Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dips that were distributed in stores and through online sales throughout the country, and which were available from April 5.

In a statementThe US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said some of the jars have an incorrect label on the back that does not indicate that the sauce contains a milk allergen. The agency added that the front of the jar is correctly labeled as Tostitos Avocado Salsa.

The FDA added that anyone with a severe allergy or sensitivity to milk could experience a severe or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the sauce.

The recalled dip has an expiration date on the top of the bottle of November 2 or 3, 2023, and a barcode ending in 05597.

So far, no other Tostitos products have been recalled and no adverse reactions to the sauce have been reported as of at least June 21.

Anyone with questions about the recall of this product can contact Frito-Lay’s consumer relations department at 1-800-352-4477.
